Bar Harbor
The surviving Rodman Dublgren cannon mounted on nearby Egg Rock in 1898. As part of the coastal defense battery at Frenchman's Bay, Bar Harbor.
The plaque between the canons says that "This plaque honors those men and women who have fought in the defense of our country. 1992".

Smuggler's Notch
This home appears to be made of melting chocolate

Maine Hillside
Even though the hillsides were not completely dressed in their autumn colors, you can see the transition. Soon, when the trees have experienced a cold spell, they will go into full beautiful colors.

Balanced Rocks
Someone with patience balanced these stones (and quite a few others) along the shore line of this peaceful river.

Colors
A taste of the colors to come

Country Road
Beautiful country road

Churches
New England is awash with churches of every faith. Damariscotta Baptist Church is a historic church on King's Square in Damariscotta, Maine. It was built in 1843 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Bush of Bright Red
This bush caught our eyes as we drove down the road. It was tucked down a side road and it just screamed at us to take its picture.

A Lake
We found access to this lake near a boat launch. You'll see in other pictures of the jetty which was made of granite so black it appears to be volcanic. This picture shows a small pier and surrounding foliage.

Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, 1827
The Pemaquid Point Light is a historic U.S. lighthouse located in Bristol, Lincoln County, Maine, at the tip of the Pemaquid Neck.

The Pemaquid Point Lighthouse
The main tower holding the light. It is still in use today.

Pemaquid Point Lighthouse
Spiral stairway leading up to the light. After 37 steps you must climb a ladder to complete the journey.

River Near Smuggler's Notch
In Smuggler's Notch near the "chocolate" house, this river meanders through the nearby forest.

Colors
With the sun shining, the colors are bright!

RED RED RED!
This tree will soon be completely colored in red

Waterfall
A very short water fall.

Smuggler's Notch
Smugglers' Notch namesake comes from the smugglers of the early nineteenth century, who used the thick forest on the mountain range, and the caves and caverns along the Long Trail.

My Trip-mates
I'm photographing Marco, who is photographing Becky, who is photographing the lake.

Black Rocks
This rock is a solid black color. It appears to be volcanic.

Black Stone Jetty
A Sepia toned photo of the lake along with its jetty

Roots
Exposed roots of a few nearby trees

Eerie House
Appears to be an abandoned. Photo was artificially placed into the night. It just makes it scarier!
